EN 166 Requirements
Unlike alternative anti-fog treatments, FSI Visgard technology meets these EN 166 requirements. Visgard is particularly well-suited for abrasion resistance (7.3.1) because the surface is elastic rather than hard and brittle, as are most other abrasion-esistant coatings. When abraded, a Visgard surface will deform, then recover immediately, so the coating will not crack, flake or peel when flexed. While no coating can prevent condensation, Visgard will cause the water droplets to spread out to a clear film that does not distort vision. Visgard-treated surfaces will remain fog-free indefinitely (7.3.2). EN 166 also details the type of information manufacturers must
include on their eye-protection products, including:
This clause outlines 16 required pieces of information in all. The presence of these items is a useful indication to purchasers that a manufacturer is credible, reliable and up-to-date on technical standards. Do you need EN 166 compliant coatings for your products? Contact
